It was moving for me, a black Briton, watching President Obama's live full address, to see the (mainly white) folks at the top of English political, official and religious society hanging onto every word of the message being brought by this great black leader to Westminster Hall. I watched as tey clapped to attract his attention to them as he walked up the aisle of that great hall, after he delivered them a great lesson.
Westminster Hall was built over 900 years ago. It was there before the British hatched their plan to trade in African slaves, it investigated the business of the trade while it was going on and, latterly in 2007, it hosted an exhibition to commemorate the Bicentennial of the Abolition of the British Slave Trade.

As I watched President Obama proudly, I was reminded of the feelings I long since surrendered to the truth found in the freedom of forgiveness. To err is human, to forgive Divine. Jesus said "Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48).
